“Mulheres na Ilustração” é um projecto editorial e uma exposição que reúne um grupo de ilustradores que trabalharam no campo das artes gráficas, ilustração
para publicações periódicas e livros infantis.
A selecção recaiu sobre os ilustradores nascidos
entre o final do século XIX e início do século XX,
que assinaram o seu trabalho, em seu próprio nome
ou sob um pseudónimo.
Este projecto procura reflectir sobre o papel das mulheres nesta área e como as restrições sociais
do tempo se materializaram no seu trabalho.
“Mulheres na Ilustração” is an editorial project and
an exhibition that brings together a group of illustrators who worked in the field of graphic arts, illustration for periodicals and children’s books.
The selection fell on illustrators born between the late
the late 19th century and early 20th century, who signed
their work, in their own name or under a pseudonym.
This project seeks to reflect on the role of women in this area and how the social constraints of the time materialized in their work.
